Thank You from Dulles Closet

Thank You!

The 2023 Winter Coat Drive and November 18th’s Free Community Clothing Event  collected more than 8400 pounds of clothing donations and hundreds of coats, jackets, hats and gloves. Dulles Closet was able to fill the 400 requests from 16 local schools and extra coats were available for additional students who came to the event. More than 1200 clothing insecure individuals from 266 households were assisted in November. Special thanks to the 150+ volunteers who donated over 500 hours of service time.

Dulles South Neighborhood Closet’s free clothing events in 2023 served 1563 unique people from 349 households. Nearly 28,000 pounds of clothing was distributed. Our Emergency Closet program also served an additional 104 people from 39 families and helped to restock nine public schools’ clinics or clothing closets. Your financial donation will allow Dulles Closet to continue this work in 2024. We are grateful to all those who donated clothing, time and money in support of Dulles Closet’s efforts to relieve clothing insecurity in our community.

Event dates and locations for 2024 are coming soon.

“Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.  You have helped so many families at Mercer Middle School by providing free clothing and coats.  All these things add up in helping families so they have a few less things to worry about while trying to get on their feet.  It truly takes a village, and you are a huge part of the puzzle.”

Buffalo Trail ES students and families benefit directly from the amazing work that Dulles South Neighborhood Closet provides. Our school has families that have children that span all grades (Buffalo Trail/Willard/Lightridge) in the Dulles South cluster and DSNC is always available to support all of the needs of the various ages and sizes that our cluster supports. I never have to second guess where to send our families for clothes since DSNC is always ready to help.

[I]t was a great experience! Everything was done in excellence.  Everyone was kind and helpful and I could tell the workers genuinely cared…. [T]he girls really like what they got. All in all, I would recommend it to people who are in need. Thank you for meeting our needs.
