2023 Winter Coat Drive

Dulles South Neighborhood Closet has received school requests to assist more than 390 students with winter coats, hats and gloves. New or clean gently used coats in all sizes are gratefully accepted. Some of the most needed items are listed at DS Neighborhood Closet: Coat Drive Items Needed (signupgenius.com).  You are welcome to share this list. Tax receipts are available upon request.   

Help Dulles Closet fill every local public school request by donating new, or clean gently used, winter coats along with jackets, hats, gloves, mittens and scarves during the 2023 Winter Coat Drive. Drop off items at:

Guest pre-registration is Oct. 15- Nov. 15 HERE. Families with a referral from Dulles South Food Pantry, a local school, or one of our partners have appointment priority. Walk-in registration at the event begins at 10:15am.

  • Tuesday, Nov. 14, 10am-12pm, 5:30-8:30pm
  • Wednesday, Nov. 15, 5:30-8:30pm
  • Thursday, Nov. 16, 10am-12pm, 5:30-8:30pm
  • Friday, Nov. 17, 12-6pm

Accepted Donations

Dulles South Neighborhood Closet accepts all types and sizes of clothing, shoes, and accessories for men, women, and children for one week before a free community clothing giveaway event. Donations must be clean and may be new or used in excellent condition. We cannot accept clothing with the following:

  • stains, visible dirt, or smells
  • holes, rips, or worn areas
  • broken zippers
  • missing buttons
  • visible pet hair
  • underwear and swimsuits unless they are new with price tags.
  • Sorting by gender and size, and labeling contents of bags and boxes is appreciated. Tax receipts available on request. We cannot accept books, toys, or household goods.

    Dulles South Emergency Closet

    The Emergency Closet is currently accepting all sizes of clothing for children and youth, all sizes of new socks and new underwear, and all sizes of winter coats and jackets. Email info@dullescloset.org or call 703-957-8044 for donation drop off information. Access to the Emergency Closet is through a referral from a school parent liaison, Dulles South Food Pantry, a social worker, or one of our partner faith organizations. So far in 2023, the Emergency Closet has served 95 people from 33 families and also stocked 7 school clinics.

    Call Loudoun County’s Information and Referral line at 703-777-0420 if your household as been economically impacted by COVID-19 and you need rent assistance or other help.

    The COVID-19 Emergency Fund and Helpline at 703-669-5040 can assist those who need help paying rent as a result of lost wages from the COVID-19 crisis. They will also help callers identify additional government, nonprofit, and faith-based resources of assistance.

    Volunteers are needed for our upcoming events. Sign ups for future events will be posted here as the event date approaches. Please complete both a volunteer registration form and a form to sign up for a specific shift. Youth service hours are available. Please check the age requirements before signing a youth volunteer up.

    Dulles Closet’s community clothing events in 2022 were visited 569 times and served 1435 unique people from 335 households.

    • 91% of guests came by a referral by Dulles South Food Pantry, a public school, or a church
    • 96% of guests are Loudoun residents
    • Guests speak 32 languages
    • 23,458 lbs. of clothing donated
    • 431 unique volunteers served
    • Over 2438 hours donated
    • 1000+ winter coats distributed
    • The Emergency Closet served an additional 69 guests from 33 households.

Michael Lunsford Middle School, Community Baptist Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Lightridge High School for hosting events.  Thank you to everyone who donated clothing, hosted a coat drive, offered financial support, volunteered, and otherwise supported Dulles South Neighborhood Closet.  We are grateful!
